  3. Poetry Workshop with Poet Laureate Bill Hayden

    December 2, 2019, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Children's Activity Room

Each workshop we plan to have informal readings of original poems or works in progress, shared by poets, so come prepared to read something that you wrote, or are working on, and want to try out in a safe space. Please bring extra copies to share for the group to make comments on if you wish. This is simply to receive peer reactions and comments. We'll also allow for verbal feedback time after each person reads. We expect there to be enough time for each person to read one poem. Participants are also welcome to read a poem written by a favorite poet. The format for future workshops may included have occasional visiting featured poets. I also plan to have a listing of dates and times of other local poetry groups that meet regularly in Fairfield & Westchester counties. Please let me know if you plan to attend the workshop. I look forward to what I hope will be the first of many poetic adventures together.

  2. Cafe Club

    December 2, 2019, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Teen Room

CAFE Club is an open forum where teens can discuss and debate social, global, and current issues and events without being judged or criticized - and then help fix the issues in our society. If you like to voice your opinions and beliefs and create change in society, then CAFE Club is your place to be! Starting this fall, we will be holding fundraisers, doing volunteer work, and finding other ways we can help. The issue that we will be tackling and fundraising for this fall is the immigration crisis. Through our 8-week session, we will plan and host a fundraising event to help immigrant families, especially those who are at risk of deportation. CAFE Club meets in the Teen Room on Mondays, 7-8pm. Snacks are served! For more information, email narayansushmita5@gmail.com.
