Monday, September 24, 2018

September 24, 2018 | 4:00 - 5:30 & 6:00 - 7:30 PM | FAMILY PROGRAM
The SoNo Branch Library will kick-off its Local Children's' author series with a book signing with Kristen Ball, author of A Calf Named Brian Higgins. The main character is named after Hanna Sachs, who was in Ball's fourth grade class during the 2004 Presidential Election. In an election project Ball assigned to address national and world issues, Hannah motivated the entire class to work toward ending global poverty, beginning with an increased awareness and a deeper understanding of the issue. Though only nine years old at the time, Hannah's passion for making our world a better place inspired Ball to travel and to learn. That summer Ball was granted the opportunity to live in Sauri, Kenya on behalf of the Hannah's wonderful parents, Jeff and Sonia. Hannah and her family forever changed Ball's life.
With this kick-off we hope to bring awareness to Millennium Promise. The mission of Millennium Promise is to advance sustainable development in communities across rural Africa using innovative solutions and scalable systems aimed at achieveing the Sustainable Today we build on this work to implement the SDGs at the sub=national level through several initiatives, including the Sustainable Districts Program, Connect To Learn, the lead Farmer Program, and the One Million Community Health Workers Campaign.
