Game On! NTR.08, the Norwalk
Public Library’s 2008 summer reading game for teens, kicks off Monday, June
23, runs until Thursday, August 20, and is open to Norwalk residents
entering grades 6 through 12.
Teens can participate in a variety of activities over
the summer:
1.
Read. Submit book reviews of
the books they’ve read. Every Saturday we’ll randomly select a review and
hand out a prize. The more reviews submitted, the better the chance of
winning. Reviews can be dropped in the box provided on the shelves near the
teen room.
2.
Boggle Your Mind. Every week
there will be a new bulletin board of scrambled letters. As with the
traditional game, the object is to find as many words as possible, and the
person with the most words wins. Answer sheets can be dropped in the box
next to the bulletin board.
3.
Read Away Your Fines. July
14-19. All week long teens can read away up to $10 in overdue fines on their
cards.
4.
Attend Programs:
·
Mii on the Wii.
June 23, 7-8 pm. We’ll kick off the summer reading game by introducing
Norwalk’s very own Wii gaming system. Teens can create their own avatars
and we’ll save them for future Wii tournaments. Refreshments served.
·
Fear Factor Food.
July 12, 2-3 pm. How far will you go, how gross will you get to win? The
winner of this contest will be the last one standing after rounds of trying
lots of disgusting foods. Permission slip required.
·
Are You Smarter Than a Fifth
Grader? July 26, 2-3 pm. Trivia contest.
·
Chocolate Tasting Party.
August 9, 2-3 pm. It’s a contest and a taste test! Permission slip
required.
End-of-Summer Pizza Party. August 14, 3-4 pm. We’ll have pizza, hand out
grand prizes
for best review and most books
read and have a Wii sports tournament.
