Readers Advisory - Genre

Children & YA Book List

Recommended Literature: Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve - This site is by the California Department of Education and lets you search for books on the list by author, title, keyword, genre, grade, language, culture, curriculum connections, and awards. This is "a collection of outstanding literature for children and adolescents. The recommended titles reflect the quality and the complexity of the types of material students should be reading both at school and outside of class." Each title is annotated.

 Young Adult Book List

Reading Rants - Slacker Fiction - This site has reviews of edgy fiction for older teens. Genres include hip history, GenX, graphic novels, boy meets book, fanging around (vampire fiction) and many more.

Bibliography Central - These bibliographies were written for teens by other teens. There are also links to other reading lists

From Books to Movies - Need to read a book and watch the movie? Check out this list of books that have been made into movies. It was compiled by the Arrowhead Library System and Hedberg Public Library in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Genrefluent - A great source for teens and adults who like to read. From the author of Genreflecting.

Juvenile Series & Sequels - Find by book title, series title, author, or subject. Includes young adult books.

Mid-Continent Public Library Teen Book List - This list is divided up by subject and genre.

Novels about War - This Berkeley Public Library Teen Services page lists war novels about World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War.

SIBL Project - Songs Inspired by Literature - A list of songs that were inspired by poems and books
