Nigerian Highlife Music

Tuesday, February 7
6:30 -7:30

Patrick Osadebe and the Mikata Band, a group of six musicians, will perform Nigerian Highlife musical concert, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2011 at the South Norwalk Branch Library.

The Mikata Band incorporates visual excitement, congas, bass guitar, vocals and Kora (African string instrument from Mali ) into this wonderful style of listening and dancing music. A bit of history is woven into the performance. Osadebe's father was a world famous highlife musician with over 500 compositions. Osadebe, himself, is a DJ at WPKN, the Connecticut-based independent radio station that plays an abundance of musical genres.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Norwalk Public Library System.

The South Norwalk Branch Library is located at 10 Washington Street. For more information or to register for the program, please call 203 899-2790 x2.
