¡Fiesta! Celebrate Hispanic Holidays and Cultures!

    Saturday, May 17, 2014 4:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. All Ages Celebrate and learn about Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day with traditional music and dances from Mexico. Children will make special maracas to play with the music. Children will also get the chance to make their own bilingual Mother’s day cards. And at the end children will have the chance to take a swing at a piñata and earn some special treats. Some Mexican treats will be provided.

    Saturday, June 7, 2014 4:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. All Ages Celebrate the festival of San Juan Bautista, as celebrated in Puerto Rico, and Father’s Day. Try some delicious Puerto Rican treats and listen to a special performance from a proud Puerto Rican girl who will introduce to you some of Puerto Rico’s musical culture. At the end of the program, children will create their own bilingual Father’s Day cards

    Saturday, July 12, 2014 4:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. All Ages Celebrate the Independence of many Hispanic countries with music, traditional games and a special trivia game to learn about the different countries. Families are encouraged to bring in flags and special objects from their home countries to display and introduce to others in the program. Traditional music and treats will be provided. Participants will take part in a special World Scavenger Hunt at the end of the program. CHILDREN NEED THEIR LIBRARY CARDS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SCAVENGER HUNT.

    Saturday August 16th, 2014 4:00-5:00pm All Ages Celebrate El Salvador’s Feast of the Savior of the World. Learn about this Salvadorian feast and play traditional games such as Tripa Chuca and Reloj. Children will also have the chance to try some of El Salvador’s special treats called Pupusas. A special prize will be raffled at the end of the program.
