Book & A Movie celebrates Asian-Pacific Heritage Month by discussing Amy Tan's newest novel, The Valley of Amazement, a sweeping epic about 2 women whose lives are strongly connected over the span of 40 years, between 2 centuries, from a courtesan house in Shanghai to a remote village in China. The movie, The Joy Luck Club, 139 minutes, based on Tan's best-selling novel of the same name which displays a mother-daughter relationship of love and redemption during the Chinese-American daughter's journey to understand her roots, will follow the book discussion. Those who want to discuss the book are invited to stay to view the movie and those who only want to view the movie are welcome to do so. Copies of the book are available at the South Norwalk Branch Library. Refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public.
