Tim Hollister, author of Not So Fast: Parenting Your Teen Through the Dangers of Driving and His Father Still will be at the library on Wednesday, May 18th at 7 pm in the 3/4 Auditorium.
Backed by research and aimed at empowering parents, Not So Fast: Parenting Your Teen Through the Dangers of Driving, is an informative and vital guide to help parents understand the causes of teen crashes and head them off each time before their teens get behind the wheel. 'It’s what I wish I had known before my son died,” says Hollister. Most of the information available to parents of teen drivers acknowledges that driving is risky, and then advises parents that their obligation is to teach their teens how to operate a vehicle - but little more. Missing from most resources are explanations of why teen driving is so dangerous and specific, proactive steps that parents can take day-by-day, each time a teen driver gets behind the wheel, to counteract the situations that most often lead to crashes.

On Saturday, May 21st at 3 pm, Norwalk Poet Laureate Laurel Peterson will launch her new mystery novel, Shadow Notes in the Main Auditorium at the Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Avenue.
Shadow Notes by Laurel Peterson
Clara Montague didn’t even want to come home. Her mother, Constance Montague, never liked her—or listened to her—but now they have to get along or they will both end up in jail or dead.
Clara always suspected she and Constance shared intuitive powers, but Constance denied it. When Clara was twenty, she dreamed her beloved father would die of a heart attack, but Constance claimed she was being hysterical. Then he died.
Furious and betrayed, Clara left for fifteen years to tour the world, but when she dreams Constance is in danger, she can’t ignore it, no matter how she feels. Shortly after Clara returns home, Constance’s therapist is murdered and Constance is jailed for the crime.

Debt: Its Understanding and Reduction
Presented by David Lovelace
A practical seminar to help further an understanding of the real meaning of debt and how to reduce it. Today, many people are concerned about their financial health and well-being. A large part of the concern can be attributed to personal debt.
* What is debt and it ramifications
* Techniques to reduce and eliminate debt
* Debt Prevention
David became an advocate, dedicated to promoting financial literacy, after realizing that financial knowledge needed for living in today’s world was not being adequately taught, if at all, in either a personal or educational setting. Learning that his financial health depended greatly on being knowledgeable in this area, he began a study of personal finance concepts and techniques. Realizing that financial theory is not always useful in practice or on a personal level, he developed a pragmatic approach to finance.
