  5. Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Introduces Walk Aerobics With Leslie Kerr

    Leslie Kerr will be leading a Second Act Fitness Walk Aerobics Program this summer at the Library on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 1 pm in the Main auditorium beginning Tuesday, July 15 through Tuesday, September 2nd. Indoor walking is a progam anyone can do. The program is a whole body multi-muscle walk set to music. Four basic steps and easy-to-follow patterns allow participants of all fitness levels to feel successful with their very first class. Fitness Aerobics creates a wonderful non-threatening environment where walkers build stamina, improve health and have fun. I Would Like to Write…A Creative Writing Journey How many times have you heard someone say “I would like to write, but I don’t know how to begin? “ or “I have a great idea, but who would want to read it?” Leslie Kerr is a published writer and editor for newspapers, magazines, and trade journals nationwide, and has taught at the elementary, secondary, and college level classes for over 30 years. She is the owner of LKB Associates, which offers editorial services to individuals and organizations from writing, editing, planning, helping to publish, and teaching the craft of writing. Leslie has most recently taught a writing course at Norwalk Community College for the Lifetime Learner's Program.

    Introduction to the Arduino Microcontroller This will be an introductory class that will give you hands-on experience with a tiny yet powerful microcontroller. The Arduino microcontroller allows you to build projects that sense real world properties such as temperature, illumination, and magnetism-light up a light with different colors, make some sound , turn on a motor, or operate another electronic device. This class will consist of a hands-on lab where you will build and program your own circuit. No previous programming or electronics experience necessary. The material we will cover has applications for both inventors and artists.     Dr. Sathya Ramavataram, author of Mandalamanjari will be at the Norwalk Public Library for an AuthorSpeak event on Saturday, August 9th at 2 pm in the Main Auditorium. Mandalamanjari is a beautiful, full color book written and illustrated by Sathya Ramavataram, PhD. It is the culmination of her extensive study of Vedic texts combined with the teachings of her spiritual guide Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba, as well as spiritual treatises from multiple traditions including Egyptian, early Christian mysticism, and theosophical thought. A nuclear scientist by training, Dr. Ramavataram applied the scientific method to her study of the Vedas. Her work was divinely inspired by Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba who appeared in a dream, handed her a few gold petals, and directed her to 'put them together.'
