Summer Reading Finale / Back to School Celebration

Saturday, August 22, 2015

11:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Grades Pre-K - Grade 5

The SoNo Branch Library and ConnCAN (the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now) will team up to co-sponsor a back-to-school celebration starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.

The program begins with Al deCant’s “Rockin’ and Reading with Pete the Cat” performance for children of all ages, followed by lunch and the summer reading certificate ceremony for children who successfully completed the summer reading program. Mayor Harry Rilling and State Rep. Bruce Morris (D-140) will hand out the certificates. Children in grades K-5 may complete superhero missions at 1 p.m. The missions include a superhero obstacle course and a final mission that involves the children’s library cards. Outside, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., there will be contemporary jazz from Norwalk’s Stephen Walton featuring Groovement. Face painting will be available outdoors for the children.

Norwalk residents are invited to attend all or any part of the program.

This program is free and open to the public. Registration is available online or by calling 203.899.2790 ext. 15903.
